Dear Andree,
I like this photo very much - the strong contrast between the pitch black tree trunk, almost 2-dimensional, and the green of the leaves... very wonderful tree and capture. Best regards, Paulo
P.S.-Thanks for your nice commento on my bird picture.

Thank you so much Carsten for taking the time to study the image. I know this tree very well... It can only be photographed at a certain angle of the sun. It is always in the shade. The light always come from the West. It is situated in a busy grove of trees and the demise of one tree (the stump can be seen) made this shot succesful. Regards, Andree

Light and composition are top notch. A simple motif, but your placement of the tree and choice of camera position make it perfect. There are possibly a thousand ways to make a photo of a tree, and you chose the optimal way in this backlit situation. Classic rule of third and diagonal composition, artistic work. The winding, curved silhouette is intriguing, strong against the vivid light in the foliage.

I could hardly take my eyes off of this beautiful tree long enough to write this....Absolutely gorgeous...The contrast of the dark gnarly trunk with the delicate branches, leaves, shades of green and blue, just about leave me speechless. But I can still write, hehehe..Wow..I love trees in fact I'm looking into a wide angle lens just so I can get pictures of them..the perspective is fabulous. What a treat...the lighting is superb and that old dead tree stump is also wonderful.....:) Linda

Thank you so much Alex. I was at the Arboretum today late afternoon and visited the old tree. The light was totally different.
I am always amazed with photography. It is impossible to ever repeat a shot. Photography is tied so much to the inner feelings that affect how we see the world around us.
That is what fascinates me when I look at your photographs and others' on this site. I see a piece of who you are and who we are.
Best regards, Andree

The Arnold Arboretum was one of the best places I used to like to go to when I lived in Boston. Thanks for the visit! I love the way you have framed the print with the tree and it's branches. The natural division of space here is perfect. The stark reminder of the brevity of life exists in the massive stump in the lower corner. Really nicely composed and exposed, a very pleasant photo. -mm

Sorry, but my english is not good enough to express my feelings about this wonderful shot; anyway I'll wright in italian: una bellissima rappresentazione della forza e della bellezza della natura, la scelta del controluce mette in evidenza, immersi in uno splendido verde, un tronco tormentato e antropomorfo, ed i rami che disegnano una sorta di spirale da vertigine Enrico
