G - Nikon, you've created such a lovely image in honour of your mother, the effect of your PS work is great - soft tones and colours very befitting for such a tribute.
I do not want to hijack another artist's page for further comment on your remark about archival shots - unfortunately I picked the wrong word from your first reaction to Ed Kreb's image - fact is, I have myself enquired about the rules for the competitions, and got a string of quite rude remarks from a forum - that is why I maintain - show me the list of rules and I'll be happy - the judges did not disqualify Ed's image, therefore, we should allow him the honour of BIP. Enjoy your photography - you seem to be good at it. Kind regards Lydia Nel (a novice of a South African, who enjoy photography and would like to learn all I can from Usefilm)

I'm sure she can see it. I like the subdued light and slightly soft focus befitting this style of tribute. I am particularly fond of poppies and love the subtle colour tone of this one.

Gayle, was just checking out your images - as I am behind too, and UF crashed, but I see my comment got through first. This is beautiful, it does evoke emotiions - I think the fact it is subtle, a bit hazy and muted gives it a lovely aura. However it still retains the lovely textures and and detail of the flower. We had Mothers day in March - which some years falls on my Mothers Birthday so I find it quite a poignant day, Margaret

I love hibiscus (sp?) flowers, they bring a lot childhood memories. I even have a little bush in my bedroom.
Cheers!

I really like the composition Gayle, with the foreground flower and bud and blurred out background flower. Happy Mother's day to you and it's great that you have remembered your Mom, especially for her favorite. I am still fortunate to be able to see mine, she is 82 and I planted bulbs for her last fall while she was recuperating from a broken leg, they are all in bloom now. Have a great day, Cary
