You are right Jen - it lost a little of its soft delicate look on the center petals when I sharpened and darkened the background. It didn't appear to loose any details in the center except for a slight darkening of the yellow/green color. But then it could be my monitor and having to reduce the size to a thumbprint. The large one of the one that I adjusted - at least on my computer - looks pretty good - but then my eyes are older than yours, so.....

Jan- I agree that by darkening the image the colors become bolder and "pop" more, but by doing this it lost a lot of the detail in the center of the flower. The petals of this particular cactus lily were a very soft pink, that is what originally drew my eye.

Thanks Tiffany - and not yet - I am on a deadline to finish hand-quilting a quilt by 5/9 or 5/10 at the latest. It is suppose to hang in a quilt show. I think it may have to hang as a work in progress! LOL There aren't enough hours in the day! Jan

Jan, that's some very nice PS work, it really makes the flower stand out more. Did you end up getting the book I suggested?

Jen - I really like the delicate look and the colors in this flower. I did some PS play (since I am learning how to do this stuff) and tweaked it just a little, by darkening slightly the background and adjusting the contrast just a hair so it didn't loose that Gossamer look. Let me know what you think - you saw the flower - I didn't. Jan
