Judi, there are no rules when it comes to your photographs. The rule book needs a total revamp ;-)
Fabulous landscape photograph, the lighting and detail are simply awesome :-)
Best wishes, Steve

Now then Judi, you have shocked me - I would never ever have taken you for a lady who would break any rules or be a bit headstrong !!!!! LOL. I don't like breaking rules, far too timid - but as I hardly know any photographic rules, I can go on blissfully unaware LOL. This is a really great composition, I love the colours and clarity, has that special light quality. And of course I see a figure in the tree :) Margaret

Very nice composition. The large cloud at the top really makes the image work, and I like the way it has a hook like the tree root.

WOW!!! Thankyou so much Ali for your very flattering words. I am pleased I have been able to help inspire you in your work.
With regards to your question...each image is different. Some require slight touch up with PS, whilst others don't. Some need a touch of Neat Image, some don't. Some are compilations of images...some aren't. So as you can see, it is difficult to answer that question correctly. This image for example had a slight touch with the curves and hue but probably only pushed up to 7. Some people would expect it to be up around the 30 or 40 mark but I don't feel that does the image any justice. I try to get the image I want straight from the camera with minimal adjustments. But sometimes nature needs a little help especially when it is difficult light. I also keep my ISO down to 64 most of the time to reduce noise with the Sony, and therefore some do need help to bring it back to what I saw through the viewfinder.
I hope that has helped.
Judi

may i just ask a question, are your photos retouched by Photoshop ?

Oh gosh...I don't know how you can dare break a rule! Altho photo rules are, for the most part, generalities and this picture is specifically Beautiful. Maybe we could all just cut your picture out and paste it in our rule books with the caption...."Do it like this" Larry
