Heh heh....a very nice portrait of a dog I feel I know. I for the life of me couldn't imagine Tanka any other way except for standing at the door looking at you to take him out ;)

I didn't use flash, this was just a "grab shot" taken at the park after our walk. BEFORE our walk there's no way I could have caught him sitting still. I was worried about the bright sunlight, the raw image is a bit more contrasty, I tweaked it just a bit in photoshop. And yes, the background is a tad distracting, this one has been cropped down from the original shot. The fur on his chest is also a bit too bright. This shot was mainly one of those occasions of "capture the moment". I'll mention too...he slept very well last night. LOL!!

Good shot of Tanka. The background isnt distracting to me, its his expression that makes the shot.
As for answering your question about using fill flash. I'm not famillar with the 350D so I'm not sure of its capabillities. But, with my camera there is a setting that I use that sets the flash to balance the flash with the ambient light, thus using just the right amount of flash to create a more natural light. If the 350D has this setting then thats how you would do it. Hope this helps. Jim Gamble

I agree to a point with Judi about desiring a less distracting background, however in this case it adds to the 'story'. Tanka looks very eager to go someplace, as tho he'd take the keys from you and drive himself!
Technical question: do you use fill flash? It's a very challenging lighting situation and I wanted to ask how you handled it.

Awww...too cute. I would probably try to photograph her/him with a less distracting background and surrounds. But the detail otherwise is good.
