About standing atop our location in loveland pass snapping away, windblown snow makes a weird almost moon like crust up here, but once in to the south facing wall its nice powder... this one is a little different than the usual more of a landscape shot, let me know what you think of it, any suggestions???

hugo, thanks for your compliments and critique on my image, i didnt even notice the line on the lower left corner, must have happened by accident when stroking a border in photoshop and i didnt catch it... as per the levels comment, i adjusted them but wanted to keep the blacks away from a true black so some detail would show up in the trees on the roadside. i agree that the coloring is a little flat and i couldnt saturate it enough to make the difference i was looking for.. thanks again for the positive feedback its very much welcome and enjoyed.

Hi Philip, The textures and details in the windswept snow is awesome, very well exposed. There are two things that I find slightly bothering me:

1. The composition, and the virual lines in it lead the eye towards the valley and off screen on the left, allowing the viewers attention to escape. In order to create a bit of tension, I think a coutering diagonal line would've solved this.

2. The tones seem a bit flat, I had to take a closer look to make sure I wasn't looking at a black and white shot. Playing a bit with the levels, making the tones a bit more crisp would maybe also make the scene more appealing for the ignorant visitor like me.... Per attached a version in which I tried to illustrate what I mean.

Now, on a very minor and unimportant level, there's a part of the frame extending on the lower left corner....:) Obviously something that doesn't affect the photo, but something that is easily overlooked.

Cheers,

Hugo
