About I am determined to figure out how to photographs subjects with the color red. Fortunately these are not a true red and have a lot of blue undertones. I didn't mess with PS except for sizing and borders, so really would like to know how to correct the "glow-in-the-dark" problems. Thanks

Peter - Bless you too for your advice. Going to see what I can do today with these pesky reds. Difficulty is that this time of year our overcast days are few and far between. Tried a few shots when it was dusk - better, but those hybiscus were still glowing like neon lights. Will try reducing the exposure bias this next time.

Wonderful Photograph Janice, Great colors and clarity and Composition. Reds are hard. You can help by not fighting against the sun. Next time try shooting on overcast days or use something to cast a shadow on the subject (your self?) or get yourself a large piece of white foam board to use as a light reflector to even out some of the light on the subject. You can also help by reducing the exposure bias on your camera for these shots.

Thanks for sharing? Thanks for the wonderful comment on my Photograph.
Your friend, Peter

Evelyn - Had to go and take a look at Subhash Sen's portfolio as you suggested. WOW! Amazing things he does with his camera. Thank you also for all of the kind comments on some of my pictures. I am having fun with this, and can't wait to try some of the different things that I have learned on this Site. You can spend days just looking - and I have. Hundreds of thousands more to see. Nothing like traveling without leaving your home and seeing the beauty of our entire world without the expense. Right? Jan

Excellent detail! Reminds me of a recent picture by Subhash Sen. Check out his portfolio to see how he handled this flower for comparisons and he would be a good one to get photo advice from as well. Otherwise, you can always enter photos in the HELP category and see what people will say. Tiffany did a great job with the PhotoShop fix but I have seen bougainvilla in the colors you used too.

Thanks Jan. What I did was adjust the brightness and contrast on each of the 3 color channels individually and then when it looked almost right I pushed the hue to a slightly more red color (+4 I think) and the saturation to a +4 also. Photoshop is great but it takes time to figure it all out. Feel free to contact me if you need help with anything (tiffhix@gmail.com). Keep up the good work!

Tiffany - You are an angel. Really like what you did - did you also adjust the brightness or contrast or the hue? What you did is almost "right-on". Guess I just need to spend more time playing - and try taking photos of red "stuff" when it is overcast. LOL. Thank you. Jan

Jan, I hope you don't mind but I adjusted the RGB channels and hope this is what the flowers actually look like. Red tones are so hard, especially in bright sun ... I don't normally shot red flowers unless it's overcast because I haven't figured it out yet :) I do really like how full the frame is with the flowers and color. Let me know what you think.
