About This was taken in the same place as my last post, only looking towards the west. Otago Harbour is one of the few in the world that lie roughly East - West. You can see the sunrise over the water and set the same day over water.

John, this is splendid. You have turned a mundane scene into
a romantic picture. The way that you have handled the tonal values is great and the texture of the foregroung adds so much interest to the scene.
Good work.

Beautiful use of light. Deft PS work or graduated filters to bring out the contrast in the clouds.

Keep selling me on that 12-24 mm lens buddy.

Really dig the use of foreground elements against the dramatic backgrounds in your shots to give a really complete sense of space and time.

Thanks for the comment Bryan. Yes I used a combination of graduated ND filters and photoshop to combat the high contrast range.

Lovely foto. Did you combine two exposures? I only ask because the left hand side is so well exposed but in direct shadow compared to a very bright sky under those circumstances. Beautiful.

Beautiful composition and scene, John. I am so amazed at all the sites in New Zealand. This must be a beautiful place.

Thanks for you comment on the old wrecker. Actually, there hadn't been any paint job on that truck for 40 years. The old red was showing through the "new" white. Or vice-versa, hard to tell. I just changed contrast, hue and saturation a bit.

Best,
Dave

The color rendition is superb. I also like the way the lines o the clouds match the lines of the shadows, pulling your eye from the highlights og the uper left to the shodows of the lower right.
