About A lucky full-frame (no-crop) image of swan in flight pasted onto a more interesting background than the plain grey sky against which it was originally shot. I'm not very good with Photoshop, so it's taken me longer to do the composite than it did to drive the 200 mile round trip to where I took the shot! Converted to black & white. Well, almost.

I hope you think it was worth the effort...

All tips for adding new backgrounds (quickly!) & comments very much appreciated.

If anyone wants the original image to have a better go at it, please email me: tommorules@ntlworld.com

Thanks,
Steve

Hope you manage to find this in your multitudinous (?) comments. Just looked at the EXIF & yes, 400mm. I'd just missed a hen harrier which I mistook for a crow (Doh!), when I heard the characteristic wheezing of swans in flight. Original pic was uninspiring, but I saw your image 'Time to go' and thought I'd have a go at improving the background. As I think I said before, you continue to inspire me. Thanks for your encouragement!

Wow great shot Steve, were you all the way out at 400mm when he came along? that happens to me often, but you worked him into the frame beautifully, I really do love it the way it is, the bird is in perfect focus and the clouds look great, I really dont think there is much you could do to make this better its really nice.....

Steve, this is brilliant. The composite has excellent clarity and focus. I see you've used an ultra-fast shutter which has certainly frozen the moment for posterity.

Now, with the beak somewhat lowered, why does this remind me of a Concord jet preparing for landing? ;-)
