Hi Gregory,

I borrowed a friends 16-35mm F2.8L (£750+ over here) which was soft at 16mm & sharp at 35mm, but opted for 17-40mm F4.0L (£480 over here) which is sharp at 17mm but soft at 40mm. A no brainer for me really. With an 8MP camera shooting at 17-30mm & then cropping doesn't present a problem. F2.8 is a luxury I can manage without!
