Well (as Ronald Reagan used to say) go one step below the Canon I mentioned OR.... I have a better idea. Around here we have these stores that give you 18 months /no interest if you use their credit card (Best Buy, Compusa, The Good Guys, Circuit City, Samy's Camera and Calumet might do it - check the web sights). So buy the Canon mentioned above ($1,500 LIST) and split the payments up equally for 18 months (that's less than $100 a month). It's payed off and it's like you got an interest free loan. They don't call me "Brainiac" for nuthin'......

Oooohhh! Isn't this the picture of suburban / urban American life? The coffee couldn't keep his eyes open... and his dutiful boredom is just oozing out of your image. You really captured the moment and the mood. Congratulatiuons.

AH, you're back. I just picked up the latest American Photo Mag (last night at Tower Records) It has a completely useless interview with the completely useless Julia Roberts (oh do I HATE "Pretty Woman".... But Erin Broco whatever is her one GREAT movie. Always love to see a giant, evil coorporation get screwed. How do they sleep at night ? Giving everyone Cancer? What pigs... Anyway, back to topic. American Photo recommends the Canon EOS 20D ($i,500 list but check B & H in NYC - best prices for EVERYTHING, always). There's other choices - Nikon D2X ($5,000 list) and Canon Eos - 1Ds Mark II ($8,000 list) are just crazy prices in my book (Threw Nikon in there for Jim cause he's been a good sport and of course both brands are top notch).BTW, This is far from a message board. It's more like a cyber coffee house called "Motor City Mud Cafe" (mud being slang for coffee) with good music, cute waitresses, and groups of bohemian, artsy types (but NO snobs) sitting around dicussing the future state of Art. Doesn't that sound better? Your site has become the SWINGIN' spot !!

We are on the same page as far as the G5, Epson printers and the Coolscan scanners but not Canon Cameras. I shot Canon for 30 years and still do at times, my wife shoots a Eos 1v, but I still perfer my F5.

Totally agree Chris . The last good one was the F-1. After that they started making GREAT ones (and the lenses are even better) ! Every white zoom you see at a runway show, press conference or sporting event is the NEW KING ! HAIL Canon !! Here's the state of the art run down - Mac G5, Epson Printers, Nikon coolscan (for slides), and Canon (we're on the same page, right? Gracias)

Canons are nice plastic toys, unfortunately the last good cameras they made were the T-90 and the F-1.

a.e. I like the image.

Some food for thought, Nikon hasent changed their lens mount for the past fourty years, just something to think about.
And Nikon has plenty of good low cost models to choose from.
Just something to think about.

Jim, What I always hear is "Nikon's make good historical Icons"(no hard feelings). People are always sayin' something - who knows....Audra, what's "I know" mean? (get out of the way of our testosterone POR FAVOR - oh , the 6 or 7 rule, Ya, OK, right - I get it now) I know how to solve this here dilemma. Here we go. A person starts with a Nikon and when they get better they switch to a Canon . There - next problem......

The guy'd rather dream about a 3 some than go shopping - don't blame him. Dig the threads but the brown shoes gotta go. There's that grain again - Felini period still? Chicago? Was this - is it - Watertower? Did you bump into Oprah? (Hey, Kitten, when you gonna return the U NO Whatz and go on my new stuff AND COMMENT? Lotta reading - prepare yourself............ (rule on UF is you ALWAYS give a 6 or 7 - yes Dear?)
