About Usually, dead center photos (of skateboarding) tend to look a bit weird, but I like the way this one turned out.

Yes, this is definitely one of the best in the series. The lighting is unusual and just about perfect!

I think the subject in the center makes the image stronger in this case.
It looks like the lines are pointing to the skater.
It really leads our eyes to the subject.

Thanks for all the comments.

Tobiah, I used a Sunpak 555 on the right, and just a little Vivitar 5200 on the left(not enough time to set up anything bigger...). The Vivitar had a light slave on it, and I used a sync cord for the 555 because my cheap radio slaves weren't working then.

As for it being out of focus, it's actually a sharpening issue. The slide is tack sharp, but my sharpening skills in Photoshop are a bit lacking.

Dan,

This looks great! Nice lighting! What kind of flashes are you using? Pocket Wizards too? or Light slaves?

Yeah Center compositions don't work real well alot of times, but I think this looks just fine. The only thing I would have loved to have seen is Jame's deck more parrelell to the ground. Suck up them knees boy!
Other wise it looks great, nice big gap, great capture, great lighting!

Cheers,
Toby

Yes this turned out very well. Striking composition and really well spotted. Just curious... what was the main ambient light?
