About Taken with very little light..just the streetlight as seen in the image.

I liked the buildings and how the alley turns upward...making the viewer wondering where it goes.

Handheld.. no tripod...no ps work (minor cropping)

Gosh I can see I'm not going to get anything done today, I'm captivated with your photo's...I love this! I think what I love the most is the lighting, it casts such a beautiful color on the buildings, showing us the textures of the wall as it guides us up the cobblestone walkway. I find this intriguing, I want to know where it goes, and I love the atmosphere and character of this image. Nicely presented beautifully done....Ok I really do have to go now, putting blinders on and leaving.....:) Linda

Bravissimo!
Ciao, Paolo

Hi Paul, the fuzziness is not a bad thing in this case, I think. A tripod would've been useful, but 1.60' second should be enough to shoot hand held... Like your advice to always snap a pic when in doubt, I'd like to return the favour and tip you on always carrying tripod...;o)

Cheers,

Hugo

Hugo, thanks for commenting.. yeah, I understand the feeling of trying to find your way home at night...glad that you liked it. I guess my only wish is that I had a tripod with me to make it a bit sharper.. I seem to always be in places without my tripod, although I just bought a cheap small and easy to carry table top tripod that may work on some of these types of shots..

Hi Paul, It looks like I've missed quite a few shots lately.... Excellent atmsophere in this photo; it reminds me strongly of trying to find my way home after a long night out. I do like the leading line in this photo, as well as the single light source, adding a feeling of loneliness to this image. Very well captured.

Cheers,

Hugo

Thanks for your comment Paul. I like this shot alot. there is a bit of mystery to it. You seem to get many views of your work, What is the secret? I feel as though I am doing something wrong, or does it just come with time?

This is a really intriguing image. Just about everything in it indicates decay and a place I'd rather not be, yet I'm really drawn into it by the light. Nice work.

Beautiful night shot at a narrow street, it is interesting, another top crop would?ve make it stronger ,especially if the eyes concentrate and follow the bending street ,to what I see, may be not ! Saeed

very moody composing, like the upright format and the way the eyes are lead from the front to the back. well seen and composed using DOF. great perspective from the floor.

well done.

This looks very mysterious. Where does the lane lead, Paul? The yellow color of the wall reflected from the cobblestones adds a feeling of nostalgia for older times.
Thank you for your friendly comment on my "Who am I? 2".

thanks for the comment.. I agree and actually I did try cropping the image like that before I uploaded it....but thought that it took too much of the buildings when I cropped it...it was a good idea though.

Peace    {K:1453} 11/21/2004
This is a very nice shot, but what about if you crop the light up the shot, I think it gives a nice light light source, and the way looking up, very nice perspective, but I just think if we dont see the light sourceit makes it very light and nice way of looking at it ..

Good shot,
Peace

Hmmm, I bet this little pathway holds lots of stories! Very old, safe? I don't know, just something about it, I may wonder where it goes, but doubt that I would go see. (at least not at night) LOL...But I LIKE it, wonderful exposure, nice tones and textures!

GOOD JOB,
Lori :)

Lee Harris   {K:14694} 11/21/2004
Very nice Paul.
Great lighting giving off the golden tones and I like the depth of the alley. The old rustic look of the buildings adds allot to this image.
Hand held even...impressive.
I'm still pretty much a newbie....I need to play with other iso's then only 200, I like to shoot animals and I get up there and get scared to crankup the iso.
Well anyways excellent shot, my complements.

The color is wonderful, eerie, makes you wonder what is around the corner. Watch your back. The street light gives just enough light to give the street and buildings the texture and depth to blend everything together..................Opal

Hi Paul, I am torn here: is this romantic or is this an eerie place? Creates a very ambiguous feeling in me. Great light! I guess though, now, it must be more of a romantic shot. Were it eeerie and you had to expect something horrible like a ripper crushing down this path: your hand would not have been so steady!.;>)
Thanks for your comment to mine! Regards Jorg
