About Them guys didn't have any 'Game Boys' or 'iBooks', mobile phones or D70s, but they sure knew how to build a roof!!

This shot doesn't really give you any great sense scale of scale because there are no people in it, but that's because the bottom of the shot is probably already around 20-30 feet from the ground!!

Believe me, this is SOME ceiling ~ the height and length of it is immense! The arches are perfection itself and the design on the plaster is beautiful ~ so colourful and intricate!

I took this on a tripod at around .7 second at f11.

I hope you're enjoying this series!

Best regards to all,

Chris

You are having the same problem a person does when trying to show the mountains, its a representation, but unless you are there ........
That said !! Another great shot from the cathedral. Wonderful detail.

A great exposure. Makes you wonder how they worked on these structures when they didn't have all of the fancy equipment that we do now. Thanks for showing. Don.

Another with symmetry and impressive architecture. You will probably not want to hear that this reminds me of the interior of a whale skeleton, or the framework of a boat under construction. The repeating arches, you know.

Chris,

This is wonderful, i really love it...

What program did you use to do the frame, i would love to know if you wouldn't mind exposing one of you hidden secrets....

Yes, Den, the logistics of the whole thing are remarkable!! As someone for whom putting up a shelf is a major challenge, to be pondered for weeks, I break out in a cold sweat just thinking about it!
Thanks for your kind comment!
Best regards, Chris
P.S. About this 'meet'. How about taking it a step forward by setting a date? Say 16th or 23rd October? Sundays are out for me for obvious reasons!! :-)

Painting it is one thing Chris. Imagine building it. No scaffold as we know it, no cranes or JCBs, all the stonework cut by hand. Prior to that someone had to sit down and work out the mathematics for it all, again all done manually. It all beggars belief doesn't it. You have recorded so perfectly.
Regards.

Chris, I don't have words to express my awe and delight in seeing this cathedral! So please know that I am viewing all of these images and loving them .. even if I don't comment on all of them :-) I think if I was in there to photograph it, I would probably forget to take the lens cap off - this is such an impressing piece of architecture and heritage.
