About This is one of the first photos I took with the new D70. As usual I didn't read the manual because the sky was so amazing that I couldn't wait...so here it is in all its automatic glory. Not to bad for the first one or so. Now I have it on Aperture priority and the DOF is generally way better. Still all in all it will make a great painting IMO. That is the good thing about paintings the fuzzier the better ...LOL

I Agree as the tree creates a feeling of distance but in other views that I tried it was so in the way that you could not see the summit
thanks for the vote of confidence John, as it is always hard to evaluate one's own work.

Warm Regards, Tim

Tim - I wouldn't cut that tree. Your position here and the great sky really set a tone and a feeling. I have seen way too many standard images of the Vermillion lakes and Mt Rundle (mine included) so this is a treasured alternate. The dappled foreground lighting is marvelous. This IS the Canadian Rockies. It goes into my favorites. I am impressed. - John B

Another fantastic shot Tim. I love how the tree on the very bottom seems to be reaching out its root to touch the water. Love the jagged edges of the mountain and how the sky goes from light to dark blue. Also, congrats on Photographer of the Day - well deserved~

Hi Cleeo, yes those trees did get in the way for most of my shots from this vantage point. As it was i am crawling through heavy brush to get this view. This was the best i could get without taking a chainsaw to the place...LOL.

Very nice! I'm envious. Great mood. Did you get wet? It looks like you might have been able to get the dead trees organized a little better. The tall dead tree seems to cut the mountain up in a not so good way. Still this is very good. I am enjoying it very much.

Great front to back DOF, despite only f11. That sky is just amazing! Good work and thank you for your kind comments.

How amazing it is to see land so virginal and natural. A fine exposure and composition. Regards.

Your camera is so good that I would be very surprised by a bad result (under normal circumstances). Congratulations and I hope you will shoot many pictures as beautifull as this one.

yes there was something seriously wrong with my last camera and that was what had inspired the use of my VISA card to upgrade.

Hi, Tim!

This time I see some improvement over sharpness. Not that I didn't like the previous stuff! On the contrary! Now, I know the name of this spectacular mount. Driftwood looks very appropriate, too! Marvelous country! Excellent shot and post processing begging for some room on a wall.

Beautiful scene! the lighting provides for a very moody shot. I bet this image would work well for B&W also.

Another 'wow factor 10', Tim!!!
I have to confess to being just a teeny bit envious of your Rockies trip!!!
Kind regards, Chris
