John, not sure which made the most impact on me ... your image or your reasons why you are doing what you are doing. Heavy thoughts - absolutely true.
Congrats on your award - well deserved. Your portfolio is SO impressive - you have such a good eye for seeing something special in what 99,9% of people would just accept as "just another sight". Great work.

Matheson,
The over saturation is to give the feeling of honey, sugar - all things sweet and safe.I'm invoking the cosseted feeling I get from living in this quite corner of the world.
In stark contrast to the cold, hard edged world of global commerce, politically dominated aid, religious bigotry, loss of personal freedoms, racial hatred and just plain old mayhem.
I'm endeavouring to get the viewer to look through the image and think about the message.

Some do, some are content with pictorial representation. That's fine.

Regards John

Nice composition John, and lovely clouds.
Why so warm and saturated ?
Cheers

I just love lenticular clouds... to bad we don't get them very much around here. I have to be in the mountains to see them. They really create an eerie atmosphere in this photo. you always manage to translate to the viewer something extra. I hope to achieve that consistently sometime.

Regards, Tim

Thanks for your astute comment Paul. Yes it was indeed the line up of the road and clouds that first made me stop and consider this shot. I much prefer to frame my landscapes complete and not add in skys that were not in the original scene; although I do not decry those that do ad them in. Regards John

Wow, this is a spectacular photo, and fully deserving of Best In Project Award. Congratulations!!

I love how the lenticular clouds seem to be following the road, though they're caused by some hills off to the left. ;)

This is quite surreal to me, I think because of the high color saturation. It is very effective with considerable impact.

Superb landscape, John!
I've come to expect nothing less!
