About This afternoon six homes in one of our local villages opened their gardens to the public in return for a £5 donation to charity. As one the homes belongs to one of my members, I decided to go along and see what I could take a picture of!

It was magnificent!!! Some of the gardens, (all privately owned), were truly stunning!! Here's a shot of the house whose garden I visited first. Several hundred years old, built of the local Ham stone and roofed in thatch, it is truly exquisite!! The garden was rather special too. First in a new series ~ watch out for some more?

Feeling a little tired now, as I was up at 1.45 a.m. to drive my eldest son to Gatwick airport, (260 mile round trip), then came back and took the morning service before visiting these gardens this afternoon and attending another service at 6.30p.m.!!!

Yawn? It's been a long day! But still a little time to catch up with my friends' pic's!!

Best regards to all,

Chris (Yawn!!)

Chris, the owner might just want you to clone it out before he buys the image :-))

That's what I thought - repairwork being done on the roof but he should have taken it down for the special show day :-) But I suppose it is fastened on there for the time being? :-))

Hi Linn,
Thanks for the kind comment!
Not quite sure why the ladder is on the roof ~ I guess because they've been doing some kind of repair work. I thought of trying to clone it out, but it would have been very time-consuming and may have looked unconvincing on an enlargement ~ which would have been bad news as I'm going to try and interest the owner in buying a print!!!
Best regards, Chris

Morning Chris
Trust you caught up with some zzz's and feeling less tired? :-) I so look forward to this series!! :-)

What is the story behind the ladder on the roof?

Beautiful house - great entrance too; I like the big windows that bring light into the house.

Hurry up and let's see those gorgeous gardens and homes! :-))

Impatient Linn :-)

Very nice. Congratulations. Nice sky definition and colour. Did you use a polarizer filter?

Bit of a boring answer I'm afraid Bill, but I guess it's because it was the most prominent house in the village of Coat. Now where 'Coat' the village got its name from?

Thanks for the comment!

Kind regards, Chris

So this is where my lost "Topcoat" went to! The "Coat" House. (LOL) Anyway,it is a rather nice dwelling. Lovely countryside scenic shot.
Why do they call it the Coat House?
