About I am still trying to learn how to take fashion photos. To make things a little more interesting, I took a bunch of photos of Summer and Merry together. This photo was taken in Seattle on a cloudy day. I wasn't very happy with the natural light, and I don't have any artificial light, so I had to just deal with the natural light. The jackets they are wearing are made by the up-and-coming clothing designer Bellasisters (www.bellasisters.com). I am new to photography and welcome your constructive criticism and advice. No edits were made to the photo, it's straight out of the camera.

As far as your photographic technique is concerned, you're doing just fine. I concur with the others about cloudy days for this kind of shooting--there are kinds of shoots where sunny days are better but this, no.

I think you should work some on bringing out the life within your models. I don't know if that means interacting with them differently, but they seem bored in the shots. Do something to inject life into them so they can give that back to your images.

Hope that helps.

Paul - That is Gasworks Park.

Cloudy day lighting is the best for soft portraits, in my experience. I like your chosen stark background against the soft subject content.
Studio light emulates natural light in most cases.
I think this is great work.

Cloudy is good, it makes the picture look more natural, shady spots, like under tress are great, you can then also work with a reflector. With this picture, you might just want to play a little with the colors and the saturation. A good makeup artist also makes all the difference, especially that "natural look" that takes the longest to apply.

Hey, not bad!
Cloudy days are best for outdoor shooting, because it's a naturally diffuse light source.
(Is this Gasworks Park? I just posted a cool photo from there).

I would think you may want to have the two of them either interacting with each other, or looking in the same direction.
