Haha excellent timing and as always with your photos, so interesting and superb photo quality!

It hits me now that this is not a little frog, it's a big toad isn't it? So that must mean the cikada is really BIG!

Are they avoiding people or do they come and sit like this on people too? I bet a lot of people are scared!

Fantastic, shot, I think I would stay firmly indoors, glad you didn't. Great as a nature/wildlife pic, but wonderful as humour.

I suppose that we may use first names now.
Your photo, and a good one it is, reminds me of the fscopionn asking the frog to take it over the river on its (the frog's) back. If you do't know the story, let me know and I'll tell it to you.
Thank you for your comment on my "Nuture's lighting system II"

Rafi

And thats one ugly toad.

What at great shot. Very hard to get a shot like that. I used to have this lens and was never able to get a picture as sharp as yours. As a matter of fact, I just traded it in as I found it was too soft. It looks like there might be some dust on your sensor. I see a few spots on the blue background. Great picture.
Regards. Art

Hi Dan, What a perfect moment. Very impressive shot, the critter resting on what would be the earth enemy of any smaller bug.... Expertly exposed! Composition wise, I think the dark "wave" on top is somewhat distracting, focussing the attention on the close composition on the lower part of the toad. I think if you cropped the top a tad closer, the photo would be better balanced, making it truely outstanding. But Wow.... Great moment & shot!

Cheers,

Hugo

Dan: Excelent pic, and details, I believe to know that you tell, because in the year 1983 when it was the worst "EL NIÑO" current in Perú, I lived in the north where the worst part was suffered and I met what is undoubtedly a plague of grasshopper, hahaha, saving the difference with the magnificent cicadas. congrats
