I always hesitate to make a portrait like this one. This monk in Cambodia asked us to come inside when we where walking around at the temple complex in Sihanoukville. He showed us his 'room' and gave us some water. We felt a bit awkward, as normally, people give food and water to the monks. But he insisted, so it would be impolite not to accept. After a little chit-chat in our best Khmer (only using our hands to be honest) it felt OK to take this portrait, while he was sitting near his window. The whole moment just lasted 5 minutes, but it will be in our memories forever.
thanks, I think it's a good idea. I hadn't seen it yet. The white part just besides his head did bother me (a bit) and I've been thinking about retouching that in PS, but I want to change a less as possible in an image. I will follow your comment my original version!
Absolutely beautiful Jeroen. I like the way the monk's dress folds. Lovely skin tone too. What if you crop out the tiny bit of bright white on the top; but still leaving the darker white which is obviously part of the wall above the window. Linn
