About This orphan and her dog were sitting on the sidewalk waiting to " jump a train" today in Charlottesville. Her pup goes everywhere with her. Another sad story. I gave the kid a few dollars, and decided to snap a picture before I walked away. The flash did not fire, it was cold, windy , rainy.. I decided maybe it was supposed to be that way.

Great Capture, hard to believe this exsists in Charlottesville, but since I am a Paramedic there, unfortunately I do see this side. More of it than I'd like. But I have met some incredible characters! Dottie Thanks for sharing.

Lots of grain (noise?). Makes the picture. So does the sold sign as well as the face. Doggy doo looks rather content, though. But then they almost always do.

Great journalism photo, Rebecca. A very sad story, in that people choose to live on our streets like this. I use the word choose because I know that in every town of any size throughout our country there are agencies and people that are willing to help.

Great capture Rebecca. Love the B/W grainy film. She still has a bit of hope in her face and a great pal by her side. Nice job! ..Christine

Rebecca,
Excellent shot, I like the b\w, and the grain look to the picture. Thats a sad story, that you capture very well. I agree with Jon, we should try to fix ourselfs first, before we try to fix others. Rebecca Excellent Work!

It is a nice document and a sad story that young people are segregated from society in this way. Good photo though. Regards, Rob.

Impresionante toma, la falta de flash le da más dramatismo a la escena.

hi,Jon - just had to tell you that i agree with your "awareness" statement here as there are more homeless people of all ages than most realize...an excellent book to read: Nickel and Dimed (on NOT getting by in America)by B. Ehrenreich...regards,gayle

Dear Rebecca, wonderful photo and very sad story indeed... and we should spend less time trying to change other countries and take care of people in this country, especially those who live on the street..... wonderful work my friend....jon
