About Taken in Pennypack park here in Philadelphia. A view from under a bridge overpass. It is not shot in b&w so there is a little color in the trees.

Wow, this is beautiful! I was going to comment that B&W was a wonderful choice, but I see it's not a B&W. I love your use of the ? bridge as a frame, it really addes depth to the shot.

What I like most of all in this photo is the contrast of the lovely and delicate structure of the thin tree branches and the structure on the bottom of the image.
Fantastic composition, the tunnel form a very nice framing.
I also like the touch of colour in the trees
Fascinating and captivating image
Outstanding work!

Quite fascinating! Nature herself almost made it monotone. I'm so glad you let the image speak for itself rather than tidy it up, imposing a specific "look" on it in PhotoShop. I might have said "Well it's nearly monotone, let's take it all the way," but those traces of colour in the trees are one of the most interesting things in the picture. The exposure must have been just about perfect, and not easy to decide--I suppose your 10D enabled you to try various settings to get it so absolutely perfect.

Hi Paul, I've been looking at this photo for a while now, and everytime another detail catches my eye. Mostly under the bridge, in the background as well. I think there's a strong duality in this shot. The view under the bridge and the "winter wonder land" beyond it...

I like the high detail and lighting under the bridge. The remainder of the wall guides the eye nicely to the winterscene. The faint lighting on the cave of the bridge is excellent. I think this is the best part of the photo. Unusual, original and very interesting.

As you mention twice, it is NOT a B&W, although that might have worked as well, with only little difference. I think a small item to distract the viewers eye from the background, preferably in a divergent colour might solve that confusion, and besides, I think it would make quite a difference. A smaller Depth of Field might also do the job.

I'm not sure what your intentions are; a landscape (background with framing) or a detail of the bridge (the cave with a background) That's also what makes this photo interesting, though....:)

Well done,

Cheers,

Hugo

PS Thanks for your comments, I appreciate them alot!

there is color in the photo because it is not a b&w photo. the winter scene gave it a natural b&w tone...there were no PS adjustments except very little cropping

Hi Paul,

I really like this photograph a LOT! 'It Speaks To Me'...It kind of beckons one to go into it further! Beautiful scene awaits!! I really like your composition and tones. I just noticed there are a few hints of color in the branches. (I do hope that's not just my monitor!) It's lovely, good job!!

Lori :)
