Michelle, given the digital you're working with, the fuzziness doesn't throw me. Her face looks a bit choppy, but this is a nice shot once cleaned up. Learn some basic photoshop to clean the hair up. Scan some of your print shots, too, so people can see clear pics whereas the low grade digitial doesn't do yur work justice. Way to go...you're on your way!

A very tender portrait, Michelle. Just a little light coming from the right would have helped to lighten the shadows on your nose and eye. This can be done with a large white board, or even someone holding a flashlight. The angle and composition are very nice!
