About	These frozen twigs were really beautiful upon black textured rock. The sun did not cover this area but some slanting beams of light hit the ice forming magnificent flares. Unfortunately many details were gone when I resized the picture to 640*480 from original size. The picture looks much better in full resolution. The JPEG format also spoils details. Does anybody know how to avoid or alleviate this effect? How to choose JPEG parameters correctly for upload format?

This is just gorgeous, and the flares really give life to the ice. I took some photos of icicles in the Smokies last winter, and they felt lifeless to me - now I know how to fix it next time. :) Thanks!
