About I submitted the color shot of this barn on October 8. Since then with Jasc Paint Shop I changed it by enhancing skin tones and then converted to Sepia.
Black and white or Sepia seems to make these kind of pictures more appealing.
What do my critics say?

Les, I'm hardly your critic, I count myself more a "fan" :)

I like this version very much; the sepia tones really seem to fit the subject. I am starting to wonder where all the people went out there? You seem to have a number of abandoned buildings.

You already have some good advice from the others, so there's little for me to add. I think we have to learn rules like the rule of thirds, before we can break them to suit the message we're trying to convey. So a photo is not automatically bad just because it doesn't fit the rule. That's where the art comes in ...

Les, I like this so much I thought I'd weigh-in. I'm leaning (no pun intended) towards cropping the right side. I did the same thing Vince did and cropped in PS and I think it ups the impact level. If I were going to give it room on either side it would be the left. Give it someplace to fall ;)

Good eye Vince, I mssed that bump. Thanks all for opinions. I will store them in my memory Bank

Sorry if I was confusing. I was just giving my opinion on what I thought would take this image to the highest level possible. There is the beginning of some hill or something in the far right corner. Also since the house is not centered in the middle, nor one third accross, I was thinking that you could take out that bump and move the house closer to the center at the same time. I looked at it in Photoshop for a minute and did think it helped to crop it...was just a bit less distracting in my very insignificant opinion. Still, I also like the extra room as well. Either way, it's a great shot.

Les, leave it be and don't worry about the rule of thirds. Look around at some galleries...Thirds aren't always the rule!
Great saturation on the growth in front, just enough to work with the bldg.

Thanks Vince. Now I am confused. Many times I have been advised not to have the topic dead center. Is there a time when a picture should be centered?
By the way, your photos are excellent.

I agree with you Les. This is excellent! Is so simple, and the colors really add to the image in my opinion. To make this near perfect, I would crop just a hair off the right side to center this a tiny bit more. Great shot!
