Beautiful example of effective use of a very wide angle lens. You obviously selected the position from which you took this shot very, very carefully. Well done! I particularly like the play of light along the top edge of the pier; it helps to emphasize the pier and considerably strengthens the composition. But this is more than careful, technically correct work. It's a really beautiful image.

How you achieved the detail without overexposing the sky or underexposing the water is beyond me. Yowsa! (Did you use an ND filter to make those dramatic clouds come alive?) I really like how you composed the photo to place the building at the end of the dock right at the crux of sunset. I also like the precise moment you took the photo - the water looks like it's trying to pinch the beach.
Have you considered cloning out the wire on top of the dock? It's not particularly distracting, just a thought . . . .
