Another idea to try: On this image, use the PS solarization filter. Then enter Levels. You will see the right half of the histogram (graph)is gone. Pick up the right box-handle and move it to the rightmost edge of the remaining part of the graph. This will give you a very different image. It may be junk, but its worth a try.
Another idea: Do all the above, but AFTER converting to monochrome (B&W.
I have often done things like these and made something from a dull or bad original image.
