Very nice- love the way the pattern emerges! I might try cropping it even more symmetrically to play up the geomentric effect.

Funny- I was just looking through your portfolio when you commented on mine (you have a lot of nice stuff BTW).

Regarding your comment on Sergio at Sunset- you're right, the open mouth always bothered me too- maybe I should clone it shut!

Regarding the comment on the waterfall pic- I agree there too (and you expressed yourself perfectly well)- I was using my widest lens and really couldn't get a composition I liked. I played w/ it in PS quite a bit to try and make it more lively. The only thing I did manage was to dodge out the shadows at the top where the stream originates to give it more depth.

I really appreciate you taking the time to criticize constructively- so often people just say something mundane, and really the purpose of this for me is to get better. I'll try to return the favor as I get the opportunity.

Keep shooting!

Regards, David

I agree with Miles - you can't really compare the photos as they are two different things (flower vs. abstract), however I'm a bit partial to the abstract. Both are better than the last "sunflower center" photo, as there are no shadows to detract from the pattern. This is an amazing capture which demonstrates to all who viewers that nature is awesome not only in grandiose landscapes, but in tiny detail as well. :)

Wow its like one of those magic pictures. The patterns made by the seeds keep moving and reforming as you look at it. The first one is a cool flower picture. The second is a cool abstract. Yep I think hypnotic is the correct term

I like both the cropped and uncropped. I can't believe what this pattern does to the brain! I have learned that sometimes what I like, AIN"T what others will like. In my opinion, this shot blows yesterdays out of the water. Oftentimes when I am editing and choosing am image for prints, I will narrow down to about four or five of the best and then let my kids, my wife, maybe even the neighbors help decide the one to go with. They will OFTEN see something that I did not. Use your husband and anyone else that is willing. And, go back a year later to review again. It is simply amazng how you will feel differently about them in just a short period of time! Nice shot Kim.

Thanks for the quick comment Brian... the original print is a bit sharper, but some of the petals reached out of my DOF.
Here is a close up abstract that you were thinking of... still cool, but I prefer the whole sun. Thanks again for your comment!

great patterns! a tad soft maybe? or is it the jpg? and what if you cropped just the center portion for a nice abstract? great work overall - great eye to see the pattern! i've been unsuccessful in my sunflower shots - you've created something beautiful and mesmerizing here.
