Lovely shot here Kim (Go Canada!)
Lots for the eyes to move over.
Actually makes me want to go surfing.

Elle

Thanks for the new comments on the Canadian Sand Dunes! And Toni... you will be happy to know that at this moment there is Velvia in my camera, taking its wonderful slow time to collect all the detail and saturation! *grin*

Kim, I like everything about the image, except the high speed film. Wish so much you had used a slow film and tripod so the colors would be deeply saturated and crisp. Sand has plenty of grain without adding to it.

Thanks again for all the comments.... it's nice when everything works out as planned!

Lass... the only things done to this image in PS was to resize, sharpen and play a bit with the curves. As well, the border was added.

If anyone is ever heading to Saskatchewan, I will post some directions soon in the Forum of Locations.

whoa! looks like a painting...was it edited in some way? I think the slanted horizon makes the image(amongst other things)..for me, anyways...:)

Looks like you have received some great comments for this wonderful shot. Perfect use of DOF, awesome lead-in lines, good depth, and clean composition. Not much I'd like to add here. Except that a better sense of abstraction can be achieved if the clouds were not touching or cut off by the edge. Good work!

i find this very interesting...the dof in the photo almost makes it look like a macro shot of very small sand hills...but then you look at the sky and see there are clouds, which give you the scale to how large these hills really are...very interesting photo! if you don't get your lens fixed, dont get rid of it, you can get some cool shots:)

What a nice variety your last four posts have brought us. This is what I meant a ways back about getting out of the house more. (Trust me, no offense meant). These are excellent images, nicely composed. And with a little more experience, you will be nailing on the technical end as well. I agree here that at 28mm there should be a wonderful sense of depth. Looks like you used a 200 zoom almost to me. It still works this way too though. Keep em going!

As everyone else said, this is great. The depth of field does look a little off for f11, but it's still cool!

Thanks for the comments... this was an awesome place to photograph... if anyone needs directions, just ask Dawna.. she likes to give up her secrets! *grin*

Sarah... something is a little screwy with my 28mm and my aperture and shutters... so, although this is what my camera was set at, I'm not sure how acurate it was. I think that through the help of people here at Usefilm I've found a way around using the meters that my camera tell me, so that from now on I should be getting accurate readings. I, too, was thinking that I should have been getting more DOF from these, but I liked the way this one turned out.

John, thank you for pointing out that bush in the bg in the far corner... I will try cropping or cloning and see which works. I think it will be a clone, as I really like the lines in the sand leading from the lower right.

geeze Kim, last time I give you directions to my favorite places to photograph lolol. Kidding of course, its just my jealous side coming to the surface :)

This is fantastic. having been to these hills a few times, I really do think you captured the mood of them very well, your dof used gives the appearance of sand blowing, and yes, almost dreamlike. Good eye, I like this alot and can't wait to see more.

This is great! I can almost feel the grit of the sand. I'm not bothered by the out of focus elements in this shot. I think they help support the feeling of intamacy.

I would however, have liked the picture even more if you could have simplified the shot futher by not including the dark bit on the horizon. Just sticking my thumb over that area seems to highten the drama for me by unclutering the strong graphic elements you have selected.

Kim, this is a very good composition.

But.....I have to ask, is the aperture of f.11 accurate here. I would have thought that on a 28mm lens, you would have got much more DOF??? Maybe I'm wrong. This is by no means a criticism, I do like this image, I'm just a bit confused by the settings you mentioned.

Interesting Kim. A bug's eye view you don't see very often!

This is a great shot Kim. Somewhat dreamy in appearance. If it would have been possible, a little more depth of field would have been nice. None the less, I like it!
