About I know the sky is horrible in this. I am wondering if it would work were there a different sky. Clouds, blue, etc... Thanks,

Eric

We shoot the same camera and like airplanes, too! Have you ever noticed how generally poorly aircraft shots fair on usefilm and other sites? The public is not moved by airplanes. This is a dramatic view, using the wing as a lead in for the eye. Now, try it, as I have with a sailplane wing at about a 30:1 aspect ratio! Very dramatic. I think stripping in a different sky would help. The problem is that there is not much contrast in the plane, so darkening the sky would not set the fuselage off very much. Hmmmmm.

Eric-
Wonderful image, and a very unique angle, that's for sure.
How about trying a thin black border? Another accomplished artist here gave me that advice :)
have you played around with this in B+W?

Sarah

You're showing too much of that wing for little effect.
A different angle and a bit more distance from the surface of the wing would cure that.

eric, i want to congratulate. this is one of the most extraordinary pictures of an aeroplne there is. i have been an aviation man for so many years and taken so many pictures of planes but unfortunately they were all too big for this view. the reversal is much more importatnt than the lighting, flat or not. it's great!

Eric,

The shot works but I think it would be better with the camera slightly raised over the wing. You would still retain the distortion you have here but the overall view would be better. I also think the lighting is totaly flat, you need to have a warmer light on this to bring out the detail.

Cool Perspective. Very different perspective creates a nice eye grabbing image.

I also think the bright white sky distracts a bit from the image. It made the plane look a bit flat.

But This is very cool Eric.

Pretty cool perspective here on this one mg. The sky doesn't seem that bad for me but it is easily fixed should you feel the need. This would look even cooler with a seal in the cockpit...

Actually the sky isn't too bad for me, as I'm more drawn to the wing and the fuselage. If the whited-out sky is too bothersome for you, you might want to put in a color fill. I did a color fill on one of my photograph titled 'back of Scotty's Castle' because the white sky just was too overwhelming. But here, it's acceptable.
