About The barn swallow isn't rare, and flits around like a gust of wind. But when you find one still, it's a gorgeous creature.
Huntley Meadows Park (near Washington, DC). I brought the wrong tripod plate, so I had to handhold.

Excellent Swallow image... I would maybe clone the white bits out in PS as they don't seem to be attached to the anything... Good saturated colours... top marks for an excellent elusive image... Regards Ken

Nice capture of this swallow. I have never seen one that wasn't flying around! The bird may be just a tad underexposed.

Pete - I almost agree with you about the bridge on the left. But, since the background is so empty, I thought the picture needed something to "anchor" the beam the bird is resting on. I think that's what it adds.

Elizabeth - I'm flattered that you chose this is a favorite. I have to admit, the camer + converter + 80-400mm lens cranked out to 400mm was a beast to hold. Thank goodness for vibration reduction, expecially at 1/180.

Great for a hand held Bob! Cute little fellow. He looks like he's posing for you. Added to favorites, I love bird photos. one of my favorites besides flowers.

These little guys are hard to "capture." Excellent shot with very nice color and detail. I believe I would crop out the detail on the left. It doesn't add to the shot and is somewhat distracting. Still, it's a keeper. Regards.
