I love this shot. Soft/out of focus is as much a part of the visual vocabulary and tack sharpness. For me, this works very well. I like the compositiona lot. And there is enough "sharpness" to indicate a happy time for the people in the frame.. smiles and handholding. This is excellent! I wouldn't change a thing about it. It "speaks" to me!

Kind regards,

Lou

i wouldn't have changed a DAMN thing. this is what it is because you made it so, and it's nothing short of EXCELLENT. who says what's "supposed" to be in focus. i think you captured the mood and the scene perfectly. if you ask me, if you'd had the couple in the background in focus it would have completely changed it and in my opinion, not for the better. and hehe, i like what bill says.. i used to be like that too until i met and hung out with a fellow photographer and seen him in action taking random candid street/bistrot shots. we do what we do, voueyristic blood i suppose... lisa... this kicks major ass. i love it. it's in my favorites, and congrats to you because you had the ovum to take this shot, and did well with it! : ))

I like the over the shoulder compositon, not sure I could take a shot like this without knowing the people...Im a bit shy with the camera taking candid shots...

Thanks for commenting Sandro, and to answer your questions, yes this was somewhat of an experiment for a class, learning about pushing film, and as I mentioned I had a little mishap in the developing (which is the problem with the contrast), but the soft focus was on purpose, I was at about f4, I was trying to just focus on the man in the foreground and the couple was intentionally blurred.

The composition is good, the photo holds something untold and joyful, but I think there's something lacking. Maybe the focus, maybe a stronger contrast. Is it a period of experimentations?

Good overall effort, the imag is a bit softfocused. I do like the composition, it is as though I am gazing over the man in the foreground's shoulder.
