This erstwhile swimming pool now supports about 300 families. The dhobi ghat in Malleswaram 15th Cross was set up in the 1970s and this area is still referred to as Swimming Pool Extension.

Many old dhobis here moved here when their work place at Sankey Tank was closed. Their regular clients are mainly hotels, bars and restaurants, many from distant Majestic and Chickpet. Till a year ago, this ghat was used for film shootings.
