The difference in focus between the foreground and the background and the grfeat details on the bird make it really stand out, Dave! It looks as if one could catch it. Especially the crsipy clear wavy reflection makes then an additional compliment.
The details on the head and the neck are stunning! Not that the rest of them are not good, but on these regions we have the cripy vivid natural textures with no pixelation. When I also see the light difference between water and the black birds, then it gets very clear to me how exact your exposure must have been for neither overexposing nor underexposing and region, and thus not losing those great details.
Very good job indeed!
Nick

Hi Dave! Nice image! It must be difficult to get a good exposure in the black areas, and you did well here! While the loon is "common," I have yet to get an image for myself! Eb

WOW! What a strange bird Dave, it looks semi submerged. A great capture my dear friend with excellent details and a good position in the water/background. Love the catch light in the eye. Hope your few days away were ones of pleasure Dave, pleased to see you back again. My very best wishes to you as always....Ray
