"Insect porn"...please!!! This is what is widely known in most circles as "nature". Sex is a natural thing...perhaps it is your view of it that's distorted to come up with such a classification.
Great technique, sharply focused, good dof, would have been nice if you could have cropped closer but you use what equipment is on hand obviously. Oddly enough tho I like the highlight on the beetles the leaves are a dead giveaway to the harsh light, i think the best solution in this case would've been to shade the area and expose thattaway. As for reala vs velvia, you can be fairly sure velvia is the better choice unless you absolutely must have prints in an hour at your local lab, are incompetent with exposure, or are shooting portraits~ (or you need the extra stop in iso speed)
