About I thought that a high contrast against the background would help the ice stand out stronger. Unfortunately this also eliminated many details of the ice itself. But still the image does something - for me at least. Any comments would be very welcome.

Thanks a lot Dave!

Now, if we only had some more details in the ice crystal!

Cheers!

Thanks a lot Aziz!

I wished such a high contrast but as Paul mentioned the light metering was much less than appropriate here. Perhaps I'll get that better this winter.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot again, Indranil!

I wish I had some more details on the ice, though.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot, Paul!

And yes, exactly *this* was what I wanted to say. The averaging metering "saw" the background that was darker and covered a big part of the image, and so the settings were adjusted for a too strong exposure that fried up the details of the ice. I really wish I had used one or two spot meterings on the ice crystal, or perhaps two on the crystal and one on the background for some better compromise. :-(

Cheers!

I like the uncluttered background of this one better, Nick.

So beautiful, but a little excessive contrast , ..
DoF is very good.

Yes, Nice shot. I really like the focus and DOF. I like the grain indeed.

IT was not the dark background the eliminated the detail, Nick, but your averaging light meter. Yeah, it's still a nice shot, man.
