It IS a pretty awesome event when you are standing on a sunny beach, and a ground-hugging cloud silently slides in 'on cat feet' to totally change the day. Thanks for sharing Michelle.

See that white edge at the top of the rocks? That is telling you that you over-sharpened the image.

Thank You Julie - I know classes would help me but for right now I am grateful to have all the people who have taken classes - and who are kind enough to share their knowlege -
There are no 'photography classes in my town' at this time - the good and bad of small town living - It's beautiful but not so easy to learn new things with-out others help -
I am excited about your new class starting up too -ha!!

Big hug and kiss back and glad your wicked weather has passed :))

Hi sweetie,

Good to hear from you. Yes I do tell you the truth, like we have discussed before we are here to learn and constructive criticism only help us get better. I am starting a new class in a couple weeks, I am really excited about it :)

I hope you have a great weekend. We just had some wicked weather go thru, it was hailing and everything. Getting better now, finally :)

Big hug and kiss,
Julie.

Hello my dear Julie ,

Thank You for your comment - I know YOU always tell me the truth and not to be in a social club - You are defintely a very good photographer so 'thank you ' for your thoughts -

Please always tell me how to make my images better as well - Ok ? Well... when you do have the time -

I always take seriously the critiques I receive so it's hard to hurt my feelings if I get to learn my dear !

Happy days & nights to you ,

Thank You my dear Nicki for your view and your positive thoughts - One day if I could ever get to a photography class -- there are none here in my town :((
I think I could learn much more ....

It is hard for me by myself - some things come more natural to others --- ( like YOU :)) ) but I do know we all can keep on learning and I do respect your work so very much - as I do respect Sam's work and his help - and thoughts - they are all helpful to me ..just some in other ways :))
Much love and wishing You The happy week-end You do deserve my dear !!!
Michele~

Hello dear Sam ,

You don't know how happy I am to recieve your honest and helpful critique !!! Really I am - and I do want to learn so much -

I feel the same as you do about this site - and this does have a lot to do with my learning process ...I am just happy that YOU see hope for me :))

Doyle Chastain used to help me a lot- he told me his truth and I learned from it - it is what I need - all of my very helpful friends with these kinds of comments have left :((
I do understand why and I feel it is good to support one by giving them a maybe up-lifting comment now and then but in reality it does not really help .. not in the long run- altho if always a negative or bum comment you do loose a bit of enthusiasm -

I am here to learn and you are right - I have not learned much except what I had really thought was some sort of false improvement lately ...

I cannot thank you enough for telling me what I have done wrong so I can make improvements .. I do not use PS or much of any program but I think that as You said I should learn :))

I too am guilty of giving basically good comments even I feel they are not excellent - I do like to give the support ...and I do not always or rarely know how to make the images better :(( Not yet - but with Your help and others like YOU ( if there are any ))) I could learn better :))

I do appreciate support for sure but you have given me both in a positive and generous way -

Thank yuou soooooooo much my friend ... I have to leave now but will be at your portfolio as soon as I can -

Your Greatful friend ,
Michele~

Michelle,

I haven't been on this site posting or commenting for a while because I got sick of all of the great picture...great shot....great composition....ect.ect.ect.

No one REALLY ever gives an honest opinion of a shot anymore. This site has become more of a popularity contest then an honest critique site. I guess that people are affraid of hurting someones feelings.

To give you an example. I have seen mind blowing AWESOME post's on here with only 1 or 2 comments. and I have seen horrible shots posted on here with tons of comments.

I guess the more that you say nice shot to someone the more you receive the same type comment on your work.

I don't get it.

Anyhow, sorry for babbling on about the clickish way this site is, and I will leave you an honest critique on your work.

Your composition is OK. There isn't really any WOW about this shot. You left about 6-7 dust bunny's in the shot that could have been removed in processing.

The edges of the cliffs are way over sharpened. If the fog is rolling in as you have stated, then you would not have the much decernable edge detail on the cliffs.
Your levels need to be adjusted....because your water is over exposed as well as the darks in the shot.
You have left what looks like a bird in the upper left side of the shot that does nothing but distract from the shot and brings nothing to the table.

I don't not know what program you use to work flow your pictures. But if you are not using Photoshop, maybe you should invest in the program and learn what does what and WHY.
One would figure that if someone has the passion for photography as you do that they would try and improve their work. I have watched your work for a while and haven't seen much improvement. Maybe if the people who leave comments on your work would ACTUALLY LEAVE you an honest critique and explained how to make your work better( as this site was designed for ) then you would have improvments. Don't do a thing to improve yourself if all you are looking for are a lot of comments saying great shots...ect...ect. to make you feel good about yourself.

You have the tallent to become a fantastic photographer...I hope you decide to start learning and growing the desire to learn all that you can.

Enjoy your day.

I hope that I did not upset you with my comment. I am only expressing how I feel.
Sam III
PS feel free to go onto my work and leave in depth critiques. tell me what you feel. that is how we learn.
