Dear Minoo,
I had this problem too with the gray layer over the pictures but with adding the contrast it is way better.You are right it's more complicated also as my Canon.And I think it will take time to know everything and we have to try a lot.But we can ask other people here who have this camera too.That is great on UF!!!I have mine now since April and I'm still learning!!

I am delighted that you managed to resolve this problem. Please do let me know, if I can be of any help!
I always get a kind of a gray layer over the pictures and have to remove them by changing the levels of adding contrast. Hardly ever get a good balance straight out of the camera. Perhaps it will take a while until I fully master the functions--I've had it since february though. Compared to my D70s, it is quite complicated, but at the same time a much better camera.

As for your problem, have you tried to reset the camera to the factory setting? Perhaps it works. It is really strange. I never had this problem. Mine is always with white balance and color exposure. Have you tried manual focus?
I hope this problem will be resolved.

Nicole Focusing for portraits (closes object). There is setting to focus on the closes object to the camera. In my D200 it is called "Dynamic area AF with closest Subject priority". It is under "AF Area Mode" page 54 of my manual. This function is controlled by the focus type lever on the back of the camera. Cheers Alvin

Hi my dear Minoo:)
Here is the info: ISO 640 aperture f/16,shuter 1/30 and the white balance was on AUTO.I had also my problems with the color settings.I still have problems with the settings when I take portraits.When I take a shot from more persons the background is sharp and the persons are blurred.I think that I did something wrong on my settings.

I see I have lots of beautiful images to go thru dear Nicole. This one is outstanding. The red is absolutely amazing, I always have a hard time getting reds to look this good with my camera. The DOF is fantastic, everything is perfect here my dear friend. Hope you're well.

Perfect, dear Nicole! The DOF, lighting, focus, colors, everything is just so wonderful, producing great natural textures and colors.
I would really love to know the EXIF info of this image (e.g. the ISO and the white balance setting). I have the same camera, but have difficulties with reds and yellows. But yours is just great.
