About This is part of a project by an artist named Stella Meades, using replicas of children's shoes to represent children affected by war. They were distributed to volunteers who made them into different displays, showing how they would like to remember these children.
This one is by my partner Elaine, with a background of happy children's music she wishes all children could have the opportunity to hear.

When I saw the title, all I could see was "children affected by W"... I thought you were talking about children affected by "W", the illustrious George W. Bush... of course, you very well could have been, since he is Mr. Warmonger.

Only 6 more months of this insanity!!!

A very touching artistic composition and well captured.
In the Holocaust museum in Washington DC is a huge display of shoes recovered at the concentration camps. The emotion felt while viewing them is difficult to describe. Del

All necessary respect in front of this, Dave! You simply went some steps further, and what steps they were! Away from "reality" but still perhaps even more "real" than anything else! The exclusive focus on the main subject is the strength here! Anything else is simply "darkness" - only the main, the important things counts here. Indeed I would like to have such a sharness that allows me to read the text on the paper over the shoe, but still the very original collection of things, that do show me enough details, turns that paper to some "not really read but intuitively known" content.

The words "Rainbow", and "Tonorrow" bring the general context in my view, I don't need any special text after that. I just know what it is about!

In addition, your strict coloring does its work very well under the general look and feel. It something of value, and it is enhanced by this special image, somewhere between a capture of a "real" scene and a capture of... what should be. Or much more of what *must* be: The heroism is just another word for misery of all those young souls. We shouldn't eat them up that way.

Cheers!

Nick

Hi Dave,
It is difficult to think of anything sadder than an empty child's shoe, when the title of the project is "Children Affected By War"
