This was one of those "right place/right time" photos. I just wish I hadn't turned my head when the car came up behind me as I missed him flying off with the bird in his claws.

Being in a city like it is, I'd say it was probably a peregrine falcon (female). I don't have my bird book with me though. Also, falcons tend to hunt other birds while hawks tend to be more rodent/rabbit eaters... Hope this helps. Cheers, Gary

Thanks for the comment Gary! Is that a falcon?? I thought it was a hawk! lol I'm much better at dog breeds than I am with types of birds. :)
