About On one of these days on the run I had much luck since the train was replaced by another that had a door with a window at its rear. So I had to try some shots from that perspective looking directly to the rails. The sense of speed in rather industrial looking underground stations was good for concentrating on that empty scenes that are constant companions to many commuters.

I'd be glad to read any comments.

Well, sometimes it's good to avoid... vibrators and go for the real thing! ;-)

Sorry, my freind, I couldn't resist joking a bit.

Cheers,

Nick

Many many thanks again for your encouraging comment, Andras!

Indeed it seems that the coloring does much on this rather speedy take.

All the best,

Thank you very much, Avi!

Actually it was the rear view, but as we often say in physics/mathematics, "it is the same out of symmetry reasons" ;-)

Oh, wow...
The very unique colours and this blurry seamless flow of the rails are sensational.
Undoubtedly one of your best pictures... 7+
Cheers

Massive thanks for your enthusiastic comment and generous rating, Yazeed! (But perhaps the number of "+" is too high? You know, inflation of ratings! ;-))

Thank you very very much for the nice and detailed comment, Shyamal! I am always glad to receive some comments that go further than the usual oneliners.

To answer your question, I had frist to search in my notes of the past, since at that time I didn't save any settings along with the image. (I didn't even know that this is possible! ;-)) The shutter speed was in the region you guessed - actually 1s. The train was actually not as speedy as the image might suggest, since it was about to stop. I had to wait until it slows down and set the shutter speed slower because I wanted to have a considerable amount of luxagraphy-like look, but shorter exposure at a higher speed of the train would include to much shaking of the camera, and would thus possibly destroy the image. But at a lower train speed holding the camera firmly between the glass and my hands was enough fixation in order to get a more or less "steady" image.

Thanks again for the nice comment and best wishes,

Nick

Stunning image, the first thing that comes to mind is the smoothness of the blur, you must have been holding that camera steady. What was your shutter speed, if you don't mind me asking? 1/2 second?

As far as the composition goes, I love the way my eye is immediately drawn to follow the rails towards the top left of the image, yet along the way the lights of the station provide a tempting diversion for the mind.

This is a very smooth image, very well done.
