About Civil Defense water barrels lie rusting and falling in a warehouse in a small Texas town. These "survival rations" were very common during the Cold War from about the 1960s on.

American "Civil Defense" is a thing of the past. A memory of such things as "duck and cover", the senseless drills we'd have in our schools about hiding under our desks in case of nuclear attacks.

Knowing our government's bureaucracy, it is probable that these useless items cannot merely be pitched out. Instead, we are probably paying big tax dollars to store them each year.

Golly, Gary, that is just too funny. Amazing what our governments lead us to believe. And they're still pulling that crap today... Terra Terra Terra... Fear Fear Fear... Kill 'em there before they follow us to the malls....

Makes me sick.

Thanks for the comment...
Dave

I once saw a British govt informational film from the early sixties which announced that in the event of a potential nuclear strike all households would be isued with x amount of sandbags and instructions on how to build a protective wall with them! Also suggested that any injured should be driven to the local hospital! So the folly wasn't confined to you guys. Nice and topical, Dave.
Regards, Gary

Thanks, Michele... and today's "duck and cover" byword seems to be "lockdown".

Hey, I know!
Let's bomb a country into dust, and then send in our friends to re-build it all...for a profit.
