About A re-shoot taken April 21/07.
This is an image taken at one of my favourite spots.
A farmer's vehicle graveyard. He has several wonderful old vehicles stashed on a private wooded lot. Most of the vehicles, like this one, have been here for over 35 years. This link will take you to my original shot from around 1970. (one of my first and favourite attempts at "serious" photography.

The inside and outside of this truck remain almost unchanged in the last 35 years.

Not a bad idea though Kes :) I thought it might have been a reference to one of those rural horror movies. "The Hills Have Eyes" or something like that.

Hi Andre, no, just saw you had this in your dark side portfolio and so I was half expecting a dark/sinister element...as opposed to a dark/printing element.

Hi Kes,
Thanks... but I'm not getting the "eye in the glove box" reference. Is it from a movie that I haven't seen maybe?

Nice dark side shot, Andre! I was looking for an eye in the glove box...

Hi Biljana,
I thought there were only 2 Best things!!
Nostalgia is definitely the feeling that I aim for when shooting this kind of image. I'm glad you see it that way. A good kind of sadness.
There will be more woodpecker images to come later, but for now, I'm excited about my old trucks and cars. :)

Thanks for the comment and for visiting the past image Andrzej.
I have a few more of this kind of image coming up. As you say, the vehicles stand up with "pride". The area is very hidden and on private property. So, that is one of the reasons why the trucks and cars still have windows, lights and chrome intact. Only the forest is slowly reclaiming them.
The digital retake is quite different as you say. The properties of the film and paper is one factor. Another factor is that there is now a wooden skid on one side of the car that blocks off light from one side. That allows a much different lighting situation in the new shot.
Stay tuned for a few more similar to this one.

Andre, doesn't look it was driven since your last shot, not even played by kids or used for fun by teenagers. Still stands up with pride. Interesting is the difference in details and tones with this new digital retake. Cheers, NJ

Thanks Fadel,
I believe you were one of the first to comment on my originals from this auto graveyard site. I thought you would like the new versions too.
More to come later :)

Thanks Leo,
The next few images that I post will be of this vehicle and a few others nearby. I am trying to stay with a similar mood with all of them. The mood changes slightly when in colour.

Thanks Dave,
There will be quite a few more like this from me in the next little while.
It's one of my favourite subjects and that little wooded lot is so rich in rural history. Check out my originals from 35 years ago when you get a chance. You will be amazed at how little these vehicles have changed when they are out of site of vandals.

Good composition of this antique, Andre! I like the tones here, too, befitting the subject.
