About Dedicated to my Mother...
A Very Fine Lady! :)

I feel a series coming on. :)
This is the orginal image shot not so long ago on Colin Porter's (Usefilm member and friend)'s dig camera. No PS work at all and no adjustments in PS other than a slight crop. I know it looks manipulated. It isn't.
For those interested, here's how I did it.
Originally I wanted to shoot the carnation (I did that too... lol...) and then I had an idea. A couple of birthdays ago, my Mother gave me a small round frame. The image of the lady you see in the frame was already there. I have never known what to do with this frame. Tonight, I did. Apologies and also many thanks to my Dear Mother...
Firstly I placed all components onto the arm of my arm chair (and later shot from above).
I wet the dusty glass and waited for the water to seep into the picture of the lady. I placed the carnation where you see it. It decided to move a little as I tripped the shutter... (well, it actually fell over, but with a fairly fast shutter speed, it still is there in part blur, looking like bad DOF, but I like it that way... lol...)
Perhaps the image looks flat and drab, (not to me), but I have been working it in PS (limited computer functions still, so don't want to push my luck, so only posting the orginal unmanipulated image here for now).
I used a 60 watt frosted tungsten globe only to light this capture. Hand held. Colour has not been altered! Rated at 400, and looking at focal length, it reads as 800mm, so maybe a doubler??? Will have to ask Colin. I know nothing at all about digital cameras and stuff like that. Too high tech for me...

So please feel free to comment on this somewhat crazy work... it feels good to have produced something!!! ANYTHING!!!! :) :) :)
Constructive criticism is always welcome... Thank you! :)

Footnote: Colin said he didn't put a doubler on. Perhaps an extension tube. Some images from this brief session had an extension tube on, others did not. And I misread the shutter speed. It is corrected now.... How embarrassing! I know OLD cameras and their bits and pieces. Digital cameras are a mystery to me! LOL!

Thank you Bill!

It is a small picture frame with the original picture in it... no one I know... :) :) :)
The carnation gives an indication as to its size.

I am so pleased you like it and appreciate your time for commenting on so many of my images!

Warm Wishes,
Aniko :)

I like it Aniko. I don't know what it is but it is very eye catching, colorful, and in focus. BILL NAGY

Hi Steve!

And thank you...

Actually I do understand what you're saying, but if you read back, the flower "began to topple" during shutter trip... lol...thus not sharp! However, I liked the lighting and was my intention. I didn't want to refect light onto the darker side. When I viewed the image, I didn't mind the "blur" of the flower. To me the symbology was like a "memory" and a far away Love... By no means a "technically correct" image, but it pleases me to some extent :)

I sincerely appreciate your thoughtful comments!
And I know that all view images subjectively...

Thanks again!
Best Wishes,
Aniko :)

This is a lovely composition, Aniko. The color range is really nice, as is the choice of materials. There are two things that do bother me. The blurriness of the flower bothers me. My preference would be to have the entire tableau sharp as a tack. Also, the left side of the fabric is significantly darker than the right. Perhaps you might try reshooting the scene with a white sheet of paper or some such off to the left to reflect a tad more light onto the left side.
I certainly do think getting such a nice arrangement right is well worth the effort. (Unless, of course, my view of "right" is not yours.) Anyway, I really do like the basic shot.
Steve

I know you're not worried Dear Shirley!~

I just like to keep promises, or otherwise why make them??? :) :) :)

I am about to post from the same shoot something else... and like I said, I will do a "nifty" image for you of the "non watered down" lady (lol) AS PROMISED! (Because I have that kinda whacky loyalty... lol...) Ummm... had a thought... Should I say... watered and then dried out? Hmmmm... my mind runs overtime with trivia! hehehe... :)

BIG HUGS~
Aniko :)

Thank you Onie! You're very sweet to me!

It is actually a small frame, not a brooch, but it does look like an old brooch, doesn't it? It is really a fairly new imitation antique look frame, and the picture of the lady within was there, as pictures often are when frames are being sold.

I'm very happy you like this :)

Hugs to you,
Ani :)

Beautiful old brooch Ani...:))) The water has created shadows like an old world map behind/over the lady... Maybe where ever in the world, I will be thinking of you... :)))

Love how you have placed the carnation on the side she is looking... Gives a nice balance...:)))

Lovely idea Ani...:)

Greetings my Dear Biljana!

Thank you so much. :)

My Mother has not seen this image yet, but I am sure she would never mind me being "creative" with any gift she gives me. She is a Wonderful Personand has always been a source of both Inspiration and Encouragement for me.
(Yes, she often says I am totally eccentric, but she always smiles when she says that and kisses me...) :) :) :)

I will visit with you again soon, my friend, but there are many outside of cyber space happenings where I am needed, so for now I say to you: Fare Thee Well, Many Thanks, and Warm Hugs~
Aniko:)

Hello my Dear Friend Shirley!!!

I am pleased to say the water has now "gone" (to my amazement!!! I am sure my Mother will be pleased I didn't ruin the frame... lol...) And I am thinking I will again shoot this frame and the lady within... a different "look"...
I just HAD to do something "different" as I was going nuts being so limited and not "creating".
Need to borrow Colin's camera again... hehehe...

Thank you my friend... thank you for dropping by and commenting. You know I appreciate it so much.

Hugs~
Aniko :)

Aniko, I love this very antique-looking image. It works for me. I would have liked to see the lady's image without the water, too, though.:)
