About A new short series about patterns out of chaos in nature.

This one is the condensation stripe of a jet. Why nature, one might ask? After all it was the airplain that made the helix on the sky. Well, the laws for its formation are exactly the same with those that participate when any other helix is formed. There is transition and there is rotation, and the combination makes a helix.

The photo was extremely pushed up from 200 to 650 for getting it pointilistic to the point that the helix almost starts shining over the cloudy background.

I use many different, James, depending on what I want to do. When I began with photography, I used mostly 200 and 100, but now it is a mixture of almost equal parts of 20, 50, 100 and 200.

I don't know what ISO you usually shoot at, but my luxagraphic work is typically shot at 50.

Thank you very much, James!

I wonder what might haooen the other way around. "Pulling" it down to, say, 50, instead of pushing it to 650. Would it then appear smoother, or what? I have to try that out.

Have a nice weekend,

Nick

This is fascinating. Nearly like marble in its colration and texture after your work on it. Well done.

Hmmm, the chemistry would explain the formation of steam in general, Annemette, but not the special shape of the helix. And also, chamistry itself is based also on such more elementary principles.

Take care,

Nick

OH I thought you´re about to talk about the chemistry that takes place when this hot steam goes out in the cold air. Anyway a nice rustic shot. I like the effort to make it pointilistic-looking.
Have a nice weekend
Annemette

Thanks a lot, Andre!

Well, yes there will be some more in the next days and many many many more in future. As you said, much science, nature and abstract mixed up. This happens to be one of my main directions for the time being. But before the abstracts some more "usual" images have to be uploaded.

Thanks again and have a nice day!

Good job Nick,
Always interesting mixing Science, Nature and Abstract all together to see what happens. Jet contrails can be very photogenic sometimes. I guess we will see some more tomorrow?
