About
Taken last night as the sun just set, was a bit darker but when i did the auto levels, this is what came out and i love it. Although I don't know why the sky would have those lines in it.

I love your title. This is a wonderful shot, making art of what most find an annoyance. I don't find those lines the least bit distracting. They almost create a target-like effect for the aircraft streaking through the sky.

Hi dear Alison, beautiful abstract work with beautiful colors.. well done. I think those lines have appeared as a result of the change of levels, as the darker image probably didn't have much info about the tonality of the colors and the color shades in the darker version where probably lower. They call this effect posterization, you might be able to fix it a bit by adding a little noise to the shot, but I don't recommend it as adding noise wouldn't be nice in this shot and I thing this effect has actually enhanced this shot.

My best regards,
aLi

I believe lines appear when image is coded at a small number of bits. At 8 bits you cannot get the same number of colors that you get at 32. That's why the processor make the transition from a color to another by bigger steps and not continuosly. About the picture, nothing so special, but I like the colors. Ciao. Riccardo

I like the simple composition here, Alison, with those wonderful colours. I don't know why those lines would appear either.
Dave.
