Location City -  Jocotenango
State -  SACATEPEQUEZ
Country - Guatemala   Guatemala
About The town of Jocotenango in Sacatepéquez was founded by the survivors of the catastrophe which destroyed the city of Santiago Almolonga ( Ciudad Vieja) in the year 1541. The majority of them were Tlastecas, cholutecas and Cackchiqueles, byt the orders of the authorities they were installed in Jocotenango.
During many years Jocotenango was one of the principal barrios of the city of Santiago de los Caballeros (Antigua Guatemala). It was recognized as the municipality of Sacatepéquez when the Political Constitution of Guatemala was declare October 11th, 1825.
The spiritual patron saint of Jocotenango is Virgin of the Ascension.

This town is about 2 miles from Antigua. Below I will put a shot of the whole church, here I was going for the dark dramatic feel.

I love this photo Alison. I remember that church, I was always struck by the interesting color of it. The silhouette of the cross against the stormy clouds give it a certain tension.

Very dramatic and ominous-looking! I can't believe that I have never explored this little church - it has such character (unlike a lot of the rest of Jocotenango!) I like the attached photo, too, showing the pink color.

And the dark dramatic feel is certainly what you accomplished. It appears to be black and white at first glance, but then the somber colors appear. I can almost hear the thunder. This is wonderful Alison. I enjoyed your about too.
