About Originally a colour shot, converted to B&W in PS. Colour was not as effective.
I also think I have over-sharpened this and any critiques are more than welcome!!!

The title to me is meant as what this young lady is "asking" with her eyes and general attitude. (And perhaps it is my own question regarding what the problem is with this image!)

Thank you very much Colin...

Indeed this was a difficult decision.
The main reason I wanted to keep so much black in the image was because it "brought out" the darkness and kick-lights in her eyes.
Yet I loved her neck shape as well!
I know what I SHOULD have done at time of shoot.
Dressed her in black blouse or shirt, rather than the white.. That way, all tones would have been well balanced IMO...
Don't much feel like colouring her shirt black now in PS.. lol...

Never mind. We live, we learn.

Warm Hugs~
Ani :)

I see what you mean Ani it would have been a challenging image to crop as I experimented with that myself and found that your crop was as good as any

Hi Doyle!

Thank you SO much!

Interestingly enough, I did crop in a similar manner to the one you have posted :)Your crop is better than what I managed. I was looking at keeping more black in, but I think you're pretty close to being on the mark here, as the main feature/s of this portrait are the eyes and angle of neck!

Thanks again! It's very kind when people are so helpful!

Seasons Greetings to you too!
Aniko :)

Wow Aniko!

First . . . this has great tone so I know why you like it . . . the conversion was great. I also like the angle of the neck here . . . but think that the perfect crop might well be very elusive too. Great capture of the mesmerizing eyes which I think are one of the greatest strengths of the shot. I also looked at the other image . . . which I like as well. Your posted is better than the alternative IMO . . . but I wonder if you have considered an even more agressive crop (see attached) or something similar . . . I'm not going to advocate any particular choice and apologize for finding myself unable to help . . . but the crop here (that would make this shot ideal) is just to difficult for me to discern. Usually . . . it seems an easy choice . . . but I like this image and the key will be to crop it in the best way (IMO) to showcase the eyes. In spite of the crop difficulty . . . I'm impressed by this!

Seasons Best Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Agressive Crop (For your Consideration)

Dear Viola!

You are always too kind to me.

I like the angle of this model's neck, but I'm still not sure if I should have left it! The alternative crop I have posted here somehow seems more "dramatic" and perhaps has better balance... I'm not sure... lol...

Warm thanks again for you kindness.

Best Wishes to you!
Aniko :)

Thank you SO much Mehul for a good constructive critique! :)

The crop here was/is indeed my main problem as she was not wearing a cap, but a HUGE hat with a bright buckle and it totally detracted from the model's face. Also it did not work with the white shirt she is wearing. This was the best crop I could come up with and I tgried many, and yet I am not satified with it!!! It is actually why I posted it in CC.
The alternative crop which i NEARLY chose is attached... what do you think???

Your thoughtful comments are warmly appreciated!
Aniko :)

Hi Aniko,

Great Portrait as expected from you, nice tones to match with the lovely eyes she has.... I think the crop could have been better as the cap would have added the much needed balance of Black in the total frame, and her hair seem to mix withthe background, a better crop could have avoided it.

remember this not take away the beauty of this picture.

Mehul
