About I know nothing about digital cameras.
Colin Porter, my very good friend (who is also here in UF... check out his work... ) not only allowed me to use his yesterday, but also suffered my harsh instructions as to how best assist with lighting for this (and many other similar) images. I thank him from my heart, for I am a cruel task master when I am on a mission! LOL! And boy, was I on a mission!!! :)
I had a vision/inspiration and this is the result. (One result anyway...I was in passion mode and used his digital 1 gb thingo all up on "other" stuff too... all by myself! No assistance required... lol...)
I wish to convey the manner in which this particular shot was created.
The vase is a small specimen vase. I have watched the rose buds in it dying for days. I am macabre. :) The living open rose was picked freshly from my garden and added to the vase.
Shot within a very small space on the shelf of my corner unit wooden pantry.
Lighting: 3 tealight candles and shouted instructions to dear Colin to move a large torch which had a white stocking and tissue over it: "Move that darned thing everywhere fast, and don't get in the way of the lens!!!!" (Oh.... I am cruel...:) )
The background is a dusty old black book (vinyl cover). I would have used the natural wood, but it is V-jointed and would have had "lines" behind it. I prefer the dusty looking background. Who would think it was black anyway? :)
So... there you have it!
Fun and games in one of the tightest spaces with the weirdest lighting... (I have done similar work on actual FILM... a couple of examples are in my PF here on UF...)
This was a new adventure! Best part: instant results!

Only PS work was to add a soft black "frame" to the image... whoohoooo! I love it...
I hope you do too :)
Thank you for taking time to read the passion cry of artist gone crazy!!! :)

And thank you Dear Colin! :)

Dear Luis!

You are very kind to me. Thank you from my (Aniko ) Heart. As yes, by the way, Heart IS my REAL surname :)

I have too long a "history" (actually a "her"-story... hehehe...) and am overloaded with so much in Life, not all of which is to either my pleasure nor my choice, so writing e-mails is not common for me since I am very very busy. But I do thank you for your site URL, and whenever time allows, it would be lovely to visit your site and also write to you.
I am an author, musician/composer/singer, painter (mostly pastels/watercolour) and photographic artist. I also do a lot of craft work like original one off designs of jewellery and textiles etc. Creativity is my passion and a thirst that cannot be quenched!
I also manage 2 MSN sites as charity work, and spend a lot of hours each day involved in many ways with this. In fact, I have a window open on one site right now on my other monitor so I can keep an eye on the place. The other manager is looking after our other site. Currently we are the only 2 managers on "duty". And it is close to 5am here and I have not yet slept! Soon to bed for me.
I am self taught in every artistic field. And that about sums me up :)
Thank you for you interest and kind comments Luis and hope to see you again as time permits.

Warmest Wishes,
Aniko :)

Thanks Michele!

This is (I feel) the "best" of many shots that were all made in a similar way, but using different apetures and shutter speeds. The camera was rated at 1600. Before I decided to go for the longer shutter speeds, I managed to hand hold a couple at 1/10 and 1/15 sec... I like them too, and slightly different light... Only 2 candles and no torch play. It was all a fun challenge.

I still think digital cameras are complicated unuser-friendly toys... lol!!! (And they eat too much power!!!) However, instant result is as good as playing with polaroids, another passion of mine.... :)

Thanks for your kind comments and Warmest Wishes,
Aniko :)

Thank you also for the rating.

I will post more images from both my "deadish" SRT 101 (still "salvaging" in PS...and the digital thingo I ate up with shots of whatever I could find (after I caught this one... mind... it was such a toss up as to which one I should post... many moods with the different settings etc...
