Thank you very much, Paul!

But there is no PS at all here. All my photos are only shoot, scan, and post. I don't enhance them in anyway.

Have a nice weekend,

Nick

Hi Jessie and thank you so much for the lovely comment!

It's Lake Lucerne in the middle of Switzerland. We've been talking here in UF since some time about a possible UF-meeting here, so would you perhaps have interest for that?

Take care and thanks again,

Nick

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed description of this invaluable possibility of correction, Hrayr! I was not aware of that! Another new thing to learn!

Have a nice day and thanks again!

Hi Nick,

Rotating the image in PS will not help as you said. Instead, you should use the crop tool. Select the whole image with the crop tool first, then make sure the Perspective checkbox in the toolbar is selected. This will let you drag each corner of the crop area independently from the others, thus making left, right, top, buttom borders of the selection area not parallel to each other. We want to correct the distortion on the right side of the image, so you would make the right border parallel to the lines in the picture that are supposed to be vertical. Leave the other borders intact. When you press Enter, you will see that the distortion will be corrected.

Hope this helps. You still got a great picture, the distortion is only a minor annoyance :)

Indedd, Roby! The character of the land is similar to this photo, I guess.

Thank you very very much, Hrayr!

If I rotate that to the right then the houses at the left will be leaning to the right. How could I fix that in PS? (Still a PS newbie, you see :-D)

Anyway, it is the usual behavior of wide angle, which also has its own charm, I think. Just move the camera a bit upwards and downwards and you have these converging vertical lines. A TS-lens would correct that already at shooting time, but I still don't know if the special magic of wide angle would be destroyed then.

Many thanks again and best wishes,

Nick

A bunch of thanks for your lovely comment again, Annemette, that brought this capture to the front page of UF.

Thank you so much, Doyle, for your lovely comment! Perhaps it has been the warm remembrance of that place, Beckenried, where I lived for some months when I first came to Switzerland, perhaps also good luck when shooting, I don't know. I think the sky could still have some more texture, but still the photo has something special for me. I am very glad to know that you like it too.

Best wishes,

Nick

Thank you very very much, Giuseppe, but I think that the honour goes to Annemette, since it was her comment that put the photo on the front page.

Ciao,

Nick

P.S.: In other words, her comment was better than my photo ;-)

Great picture Nick. One thing is bothering me though. The buildings on the right side of the picture seem to lean to the left. Easy to fix in Photoshop. Other than that, everything is great. You captured the mood very nicely.

Wow Nick . . . One of your better shots for sure! It has your usual strength with the water and still you managed to keep from overexposing the sky! Wonderfully composed and beautiful color. My friend, this is an award worthy shot (IMO) but at least . . . Annemette has managed to get it to the front page with her nice critique! Very nicely done!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Thank you very much, Joggie.

I can't really decide which of the two I like most. Each of them has something that the other hasn't. Perhaps it's time for me to move to square middle format - who knows.

Best wishes,

Nick

Thank you very much, Annemette!

It is Beckenried, the small village where I was living from December 1999 to October 2000. Only such houses there and indeed like a fairy tale.

Keep well,

Nick

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Oh this is magnificent, Nick! What a scenery and what architecture. The way you exposed the photo makes it look almost surreal, fairy talelike. Great colours.
Best wishes,
Annemette
